Artists raise awareness and reflect back to us the world we live in. They tell our stories and help us reimagine the world we hope to create.
Boston artist, Dawna Davis and Argentinian artist Liliana Folta, harness the power of global artists and local fashion designers to shine a light on racial and environmental inequities.
Through design in the State of Emergency Runway Show, they encourage the breakdown of barriers between races, cultures and genders as well as offer exposure to established and emerging designers in underserved areas of the city. These designers highlight the issues of systemic racism, wealth gap, human rights, allyship and environmental issues.
State of the Earth, an art/science exhibition, brings together a group of women artists from different parts of the world. They raise awareness of the importance of native plants and how they help pollinators survive. The connection of human health to environmental and planetary health strengthens our emotional resilience.
Attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy the work of established and emerging artists and designers while learning about the persistence of racial injustice, a worsening climate and dwindling biodiversity from the artists’ perspective.
